    173)   Squires Tavern work party - April 10, 2002
Volunteers cleanup the grounds on the south side of the building, concentrating on the area around the hatchway.  Leftover stones from the hatchway construction are removed and the area re-graded.  Also, sub-flooring is installed in the previous upstairs bathroom.  Work is started on installing computer and phone lines, taking advantage of the access to walls before plastering is done later in the year.

Carpenter Ed Kostak and son continue to add trim to several rooms downstairs including chair rail, window trim and door trim.  This trim is identical to the original trim, pieces of which can still be found in some locations of the building.  Stone mason Mike Hoffnagle finishes the stone work for the south cellar hatchway/bulkhead (photo below-click it to enlarge).  Thanks to Mike for donating much of his time for this work.

Volunteers continue the clean-up of several rooms by removing wood scraps and building debris.  Floors are swept and vacuumed.  Dave Ravasio replaced sub-flooring in the former upstairs bathroom to close holes in the floor from where fixtures were removed.  Dave Parsons, today assisted by Kevin and Joan Banach, continues to improve the appearance of the backyard area, cutting brush and removing dead trees.

Volunteers remove scrap wood and metal and begin to clean up some of the rooms in the Tavern.  Upstairs bathroom fixtures that had be disconnected earlier are removed from the building.
