    307)   First kiosk sign goes up. - January 30, 2007
One wall of a small outbuilding near the entrance to the Squire's Tavern has been constructed to serve as an informational kiosk.  Signs will be mounted on the kiosk for the benefit of visitors.  The first of several signs has been hung on the wall.  The sign provides basic information on the Historical Society and the Squire's Tavern.  Future signs will display background on the town of Barkhamsted and the area around the Squire's Tavern.  If you are passing by on East River Road, stop and take a look.

    306)   Stencil work starts on the walls of the ballroom! - January 29, 2007
Historical Society volunteers Linne Landgraf and Sharon Lynes have spent a lot of time planning and preparing for the job of stenciling the walls of the ballroom at the Squire's Tavern.  The stencils selected are some of the same as those found in another Barkhamsted Tavern (the Merrill Tavern).  Today the paint starts to go on the wall.  The stencils will add some zip to the old room, which probably has not had stencils appearing on the wall for about 160 years.
