316) Third grade students visit historic sites

316)   Third grade students visit historic sites - May 23, 2007
Barkhamsted Elementary School third grade students dressed in period costume spend the day visiting a variety of historic sites in the town of Barkhamsted.  Included on the itinerary is the Squire's Tavern and the Barkhamsted Center Schoolhouse, both operated by the Historical Society.  The students were involved with several activities at each location including a tour of rooms at the Tavern conducted by Historical Society President Walt Landgraf.  Walt discussed how the Inn was operated and also the fact that it was at the center of a large farm.

Walt Landgraf leads a group of third grade students into the Squire's Tavern.  The students spent the day learning about facets of the town's history at a variety of sites.
