Old Home Day Sunday Sept 10th 10-2 BHS is partnering with the 1st congregational Church of Barkhamsted, who has been celebrating Barkhamsted’s birthday since its centennial in 1879. 10 AM service followed by old home day annual photo on the portico. Potluck afterwards. Yard games and crafts for children. Location 1st Congregational Church 6 Old Town Hall Rd Barkhamsted CT

The School House is open for Summer !

Come and find out what school was like in “the old days.” The Barkhamsted Historical Society’s one room schoolhouse, the old Center School on Center Hill Road (Rt. 181) just north of the intersection with Beach Rock Road in Barkhamsted, will be open the last Sunday of each month May-Sept. from 1:00 to 4:00 PM.  Ask questions; read the old books; review a high school entrance exam; try your hand at various toys and games, or do some arithmetic problems on a slate.
